How captions are structured once they land depends on which host you are in.

After Effects

In After Effects, most presets let you choose how the caption layers are structured. The panel calls this Captions Layout. Some presets are built for one layout, so they offer fewer options.

1. One Text Layer. All captions on a single text layer. Fewest layers to manage. Edit the text in the panel and MotionCaption updates the keyframes.

2. Separate Captions. One layer per caption block. The usual starting point. Most presets work here, including the synced animations, which need Separate Captions or One Text Layer.

3. Separate Lines. One layer per line within a caption. The Rounded Box style needs this layout in After Effects, so each line carries its own rounded background.

4. Separate Words. Every word becomes its own text layer, with a marker at that word's end time so the animation follows the speech. Restyle or animate one word without touching the rest.

Premiere

In Premiere, captions come in on the MoGRT MotionCaption installs, and Captions Layout in the preset settings decides how they sit on your timeline.

1. One Clip. The default. The whole caption track rides on a single MoGRT clip, so generation writes it in one pass. Restyle once and every caption follows.

2. Separate Captions. Each caption gets its own clip, so you can move, retime, or style any one on its own.

3. Bake. Render the caption track to a PNG sequence with alpha for instant playback. Toggle back to the live MoGRT to keep editing.

The Premiere rounded box works with any caption layout, up to 7 lines per caption, so it does not need a per-line mode.
