Animated captions inside Premiere

In Premiere it installs its own caption MoGRT and imports it into your project, so you transcribe, pick one of the 80+ caption looks in the panel, and generate on your timeline. There is no separate template to find. A few After Effects presets and tools require After Effects 24.3 or later.

No file needed. Cloud transcription returns a start and end time for every word, so word-by-word captions come straight out of the transcript in both After Effects and Premiere. In Premiere those per-word timings go into the caption MoGRT, and the word highlight and type-on looks animate from them. Transcription on your own machine also gives per-word timing, and cloud gives the more precise timing of the two. You can still import an SRT, TXT, or CSV when you already have one. Cloud transcription costs one credit per minute.

Because generation writes the whole caption track in one pass, and your timeline holds one clip instead of one clip per caption. Edit the look once and every caption follows. When you want a caption moved, retimed, or styled on its own, switch Captions Layout to Separate Captions and MotionCaption splits that clip per caption. For playback, Bake renders the caption track to a PNG sequence so it scrubs instantly.

In Premiere every caption rides on one clip, so generation is fast and the timeline stays light, and you can split that clip to style any caption on its own. Yes. Every preset carries settings you can edit and save: text styles, highlights, backgrounds, animations, effects and transitions. In After Effects they arrive as native text layers, so anything After Effects can do to a text layer, you can do to a caption. In Premiere you restyle from the MotionCaption panel. Open Properties and you get the caption MoGRT's own controls for text and stroke color, leading, shadows, word and line highlights, boxes, and glow, written straight to the caption clips on your track.
