Presets

The Presets area is where you pick the animated caption look (layout, motion, baseline styling), then generate it on the timeline.

1. Library size: After Effects ships the full gallery of 330+ animated caption presets. Premiere ships 80+, all rendered on the MoGRT MotionCaption installs into your project. Every caption rides on one clip, so the timeline stays light and generation is fast. The clip splits when you want a caption styled on its own. Some cards carry a Pro crown, see Find a preset below.

2. Custom presets: Start from any preset, or duplicate one and right-click it to edit its Styles, then save.

   • Choose that preset again and your saved parameters apply in one click
   • No cap on duplicates. Each copy keeps its own settings, so one preset can become a whole family of looks
   • Copies work in Split Presets too, so two versions of one preset can style two speakers

Find a preset

The gallery toolbar narrows 330+ presets to the handful worth trying. Filter pills sit along the top. The More filters funnel at the right end holds the search box and the rest of the pills.

1. Filter pills: All shows everything and resets the gallery. Basic, Highlight and AI are pinned to the toolbar by default, with the rest (Popular, Left Align, Recent and others) inside the funnel.

   • One pill at a time. Picking another replaces it
   • Drag any pill between Header buttons and Filters in the funnel to pin it to the toolbar or tuck it away

2. Search: open the More filters funnel and the search box is the first row, already focused. Search by the look or by what is in it: chat, neon, karaoke, glow, outline and zoom all work.

   • It matches look tags plus the effects, animations and transitions a preset uses, so searching an effect finds every preset built on it
   • Several words narrow the results, and each word matches from the start of a tag
   • Search covers the whole library, not the active pill. That pill stays highlighted while you type. Clear the box to go back to it
   • Picking a pill clears whatever you typed

3. Collections and favourites: the Collections pill groups presets into named sets you make, and a preset can belong to more than one. Favourites are a built-in set in the same dropdown.

   • Collections save with the panel, so they carry across projects
   • Choosing a collection filters the gallery like a pill, and replaces the active pill

4. Pro presets: some cards carry a small violet crown in the top-left corner. Those need Pro, and a Pro trial counts, so a trial can generate them too. Once the trial ends, clicking one opens the upgrade options. The rest of the library comes with the one-time purchase.

   • The crown is a gate mark, so it comes off the grid once Pro is active
   • A wand in that same corner means something else: that preset spends AI credits, which a trial, a licence and Pro can all do

Preset settings

Every preset opens its own settings: colors, stroke, shadow, highlight, boxes, font, alignment. Save named variants to reuse.

1. A tabbed editor (Preset, Text, Box, Add-ons) with live controls.

2. Save your variants: Save variants by category, then load, override, export, import, or reset to default. A generator can also roll a random style.

Split Presets

1. Assign a different preset to different captions or speakers in one pass, so each one carries its own look.

   • Select captions by speaker, by dragging to paint across rows, or by jumping to a number
   • Apply a preset to just those
   • Generate them all at once
