Motion

The Motion tab is where you add ready-made animations or build your own. Premiere gets the animation preset library to browse and apply. The deeper builders stay in After Effects.

After Effects

MotionCaption in After Effects

  1. Animation presets: Browse, search, and apply saved presets, with categories for captions, highlight, your own custom set, and your user presets.

  2. User presets: Save the current animation settings as a named preset, then reuse it in any project. Add your own folders of .ffx presets and apply them from here.

  3. Animator: Animate any text property with per-character control.

    • Properties: position, scale, rotation, opacity, tracking, skew, fill, or blur
    • A configurable anchor point
    • Separate In and Out values

  4. Transform: Two ways to move. Controller mode builds animations without keyframes (ping-pong, pulse, bounce). Keys mode animates with keyframes.

  5. Typewriter: Reveal text by character, word, or line, with an optional animated cursor and pacing options.

  6. Wiggle: Random motion, with control over speed and amount.

  7. Scroll (cascade): Cascading captions, horizontal or vertical, with adjustable gap and duration.

  8. Randomize: Controlled randomness across captions (per layer, line, caption, or all), with min and max ranges and optional per-character font and color variation.

  9. 3D: Turn captions into 3D extruded text with bevel styles, surfaces, per-face color, and HDR environment lighting.

Premiere

  1. Premiere has the animation preset library, a categorized set (Captions, Highlight, and Custom) you search, apply, and pace with a speed control. After Effects adds the builders: Animator, Transform, Typewriter, Wiggle, Scroll, Randomize, and 3D.

Zoom a clip

The Custom category also works on your video clips. Select one or more clips in the timeline, then click an animation. MotionCaption animates the clip itself, so there is no adjustment layer to add and no keyframes to set by hand.

  1. Constant zoom: Under Custom, Constant, click Zoom In or Zoom Out. The zoom runs slowly across the whole clip, at the speed you set in the Speed field.

  2. Intro, Attention and Outro: Under Custom, Advanced, pick an animation for the start, the middle or the end of the clip (for example Scale In and Scale Out), then click Apply. Clean Keys removes it again.
