Settings

Settings is the panel's preferences screen. Open it from the gear in the panel header, or press Q. It holds caption placement, how the panel behaves, your account and AI credits, and the update check. Save keeps your changes. The reset arrow in the title bar restores every default.

Caption placement

Layout Settings sets the position and size of your captions in the current composition or sequence, with a live preview of the caption box.

1. Preset: Save and load named position-and-scale setups. Center, Landscape, and Portrait ship built in. Your own custom presets are stored per host.

2. Align and scale (both): Set horizontal and vertical placement and caption box scale as percentages, or drag in the preview, which snaps to edges and center.

3. Composition size (After Effects): Match the active comp, or set your own.

   • Sync to the active comp
   • Or a Custom Size with your own width, height, and frame rate, a lock-aspect-ratio option, and a preview-only background color
   • Turn on Update MotionCaption Layer to push alignment and scale changes to the selected layer

4. Update Selected Layers/Clips: In After Effects, alignment and scale changes apply to the MotionCaption composition layer. In Premiere, they apply to the selected MoGRT clips.

Interface options

Interface Options changes how the panel behaves. Every choice sticks between sessions.

1. Remember last tab: Reopen the panel on the tab you used last instead of Captions.

2. Notifications: Hide the alerts the panel raises, or keep them on screen until you dismiss them so you can read and copy the full message.

3. Hide tooltips: Turn off the hover hints on panel icons and controls.

4. Static emojis: Use non-animated emojis in the panel to save memory on long timelines.

5. Caption editing shortcuts: Show the keyboard shortcuts for moving a word between lines and captions, at the bottom of the captions list.

6. Onboarding tour: Replay the new-user walkthrough of the main features.

7. Reset confirmation dialogs: Bring back the dialogs you dismissed with "Don't ask again".

Account and updates

1. Account: Your plan badge, your AI credit balance with a usage bar, and the buttons to buy more credits or join Pro. The signed-in email sits behind an eye toggle.

   • Manage devices opens your dashboard in the browser, where you free a machine you no longer use
   • Deactivate signs out on this machine and releases its licence activation. You can sign in again anytime

2. Check for updates: Under Help, with the extension version number. A newer version puts an Update available banner at the top of Settings, with an install button.

3. Help links: Docs opens this guide in your browser. Support and Report a bug open the contact page with the topic already chosen. Feature request opens a box inside the panel.
