MotionCaption vs FireCut
FireCut is an AI editing suite for Premiere and DaVinci Resolve, with captions as one feature. MotionCaption starts from the captions and works in After Effects and Premiere.
Reviewed October 2026. Every FireCut fact was read on its own site.
The short answer
FireCut automates a rough cut in Premiere or DaVinci Resolve: silences, zoom cuts, B-roll, podcast multicam, automatic shorts, and captions that land as images. MotionCaption runs in After Effects and Premiere and builds captions you can open again: native text layers in After Effects, a MoGRT clip in Premiere, with 330+ in After Effects, 80+ in Premiere presets. Choose FireCut for a subscription that automates the cut, or for DaVinci Resolve. Choose MotionCaption for the captions themselves, for After Effects, or for a one-time purchase.

When FireCut is the better pick
Better to read these now than after buying.
- You edit in DaVinci Resolve. FireCut runs there and MotionCaption does not.
- You edit multicam podcasts and want the camera switching automated.
- You want one subscription that covers silences, zoom cuts, B-roll, chapters and shorts, with captions included.
- You prefer image captions for timeline playback and rarely change a caption after generating it.
When MotionCaption is the better pick
Both remove silences and filler words. These are the differences.
Captions you can open again
In After Effects each caption is a native text layer, so a typo is a text edit and any effect or expression applies. In Premiere the captions are a MoGRT clip with live text, restyled from the panel.
It runs in After Effects
330+ animated presets as real After Effects layers. FireCut is designed for Premiere and DaVinci Resolve.
A one-time licence
$99 one-time (founding price until November 30, then $149), with local transcription that uses no credits and has no monthly hour allowance.
A library of looks with a count
330+ in After Effects, 80+ in Premiere, each one previewed in the panel before you apply it.
MotionCaption or FireCut
The questions editors ask before they choose between the two.
Does FireCut work in After Effects?
FireCut describes itself as designed for Premiere and DaVinci Resolve. MotionCaption runs in After Effects and Premiere.
Are FireCut captions editable?
FireCut places captions as images and says it chose images over Motion Graphics Templates because they preview quickly. Its site says they can still be edited through FireCut. MotionCaption builds native text layers in After Effects and a MoGRT clip in Premiere, and can bake the Premiere track to a PNG sequence when you want the same quick playback.
Which one removes silences?
Both. FireCut has the wider set of rough-cut automations, including podcast multicam. MotionCaption removes silences, filler words and repeated takes in the same panel as its captions, in After Effects and Premiere.
How do the pricing models compare?
FireCut is a subscription with plans by monthly transcription hours, and lifetime pricing on request. Its prices vary by country, so check its pricing page. MotionCaption is $99 one-time (founding price until November 30, then $149), with an optional Pro subscription at $15 a month.
